I'm Ashley Rasmusson, also known as Ashlee Sunshine. In March 2025, at 33 years old, my world shattered when my partner of six years—the love of my life and man I planned to spend my life with—had a brain aneurysm rupture leading to his death a month later.
Through my own journey, I saw how isolating grief can be, especially for women navigating this profound loss. I created Rising After Loss to ensure no woman has to walk this path alone—without tools, without structure, and without hope.
As a yoga teacher and grief guide with a BA in Philosophy, a minor in Clinical Psychology, and over 1,000 hours of yoga teacher training from around the world—including the birthplace of yoga in Rishikesh, India—I bring both lived experience and professional expertise to this sacred work.
My work has been featured in Om Yoga Magazine, Yoga Journal, Outside Magazine, The Guardian, and Spirituality & Health Magazine. I utilize holistic methods including tapping, meditation, yoga, breathwork, mindset-reframing, journaling, community support, talk therapy, and nutrition to help calm emotional waves, release the heavy emotions of grief—panic, overwhelm, fear, anxiety, loneliness, anger, guilt, and shame—and begin rebuilding your life after loss so you can start living again.
